Word of mouth marketing = the new T.V. Ad. And the beauty of the web is that through blogging channels it facilitates this with much more ease than ever before. Often we hear of a new product or service through a person many of us have never met before.

I am an SEO specialist and marketing consultant in Southern Ontario, and Word of Mouth has been the ONLY way I have ever gotten work. Not by resumes or ads or anything else (although I have promoted myself a bit in these other channels).

New contracts and assignments have always been because of a) happy clients who have enthusiastically shared their good experiences and successes working with me with their friends and b) people who personally know me as a person of integrity (and know what a propeller-head I am).

My intent here isn't to boast about my leet skillz. I'm merely supporting your point that doing good work on good contracts does in fact beget more work and more contracts. Word of mouth from happy customers will always be the most powerful form of advertising.
